A recent case study looked at a 45-year-old woman with a history of uterine fibroids with symptoms of presyncope and weakness, and her blood test showed significant anemia. Due to limited studies and variable outcomes, strong recommendations for intravenous (IV) iron use in these cases are uncertain. However, considering the severity of iron-deficiency anemia, risks of red blood cell transfusion, and the safety and efficacy of IV iron, conditional recommendations have been made.
